SEAN ELIAS

In January 2022, Sean Elias was named Executive Director of The DC Arts Center following a months-long regional search. Sean Elias is a Tony Award-nominated, internationally award-winning arts administrator, educator, actor, and director. With a background in both performance and theatre for community development, Sean is committed to holding space for the stories of underprivileged communities to be seen, heard, and ultimately — felt. Sean serves as Executive Director of The DC Arts Center and as Artistic Director of Iron Crow Theatre, Baltimore's award-winning professional queer theatre. Previously, Sean was the Founding Chair of the internationally award-winning Performing Arts Department at the Jemicy School - Upper School (a private school in Owings Mills, Maryland serving students with dyslexia and other language-based learning differences) and was part of Apple's Human Resources Team for the New York City market.

In 2021 Sean was named Voyage Baltimore's Rising Star and in 2018 one of Baltimore Magazine's Visionaries.

Under Sean's leadership, The DC Arts Center has made history and undergone a massive rebranding, modernization, and digitization campaign while also seeing a significant increase in membership, programming, and fundraising -- all while enacting a new five-year strategic plan. Under Sean's leadership, Iron Crow Theatre has experienced its most extensive phase of growth in history, breaking every record the theatre previously held.
