FROM THE ARTIST

These abstracts are inspired by the colors of fall. My process here is intuitive and I've tried to capture the symphony of changing colors that the season brings with it. Two smaller works are on wood panels while the larger pieces are on gallery wrapped canvas.

ABOUT ARCHA MALHOTRA

Archa Malhotra was born and raised in India and moved to the United States to pursue higher education. Growing up, she always had a keen interest in art and design which led her to earn professional degrees in Architecture and Landscape Architecture. After working for several years in the architectural design and construction management industry, she opened her home studio to delve into her passion for art.

She loves making abstract paintings on canvas as well as paper. Acrylics is her preferred medium, but she also enjoys creating mixed media pieces using pen, ink, markers, and pastels. Her process is intuitive with the use of a lot of bright and bold colors. Her work draws inspiration from not only the gorgeous color combinations found in nature but also from the culture of the country she grew up in. Her intention is to express as well as evoke joy, contentment, and celebration through her work. Every piece is painted in several layers and the idea is to weave together a range of colors or shades to express emotions.

Her paintings have been showcased at several juried art shows in Maryland, Virginia, Washington D.C. and California.
