About the Artwork

The Washington Trashbirds are a fanciful and unique collective of DC pigeons who revel in the joys, diversity, and excitement of city life. They add quiet comfort, continuity, and familiarity to the city and serve as resilient guides when we feel overwhelmed or lost. Often invisible, they see value in the city's both venerated buildings, but also in the most unappreciated corners of the metro's brutalist vaults. The Trashbirds, alongside other special characters, remind city dwellers of the whimsical, sometimes mystical joys of the mundane. Trashbirds tend to notice the little things and don't take for granted small miracles, like an accidentally dumped carton of chicken nuggets, the mystery of where the metro drives after its last stop, or the way a sunbeam reflects off a metro escalator as it emerges into the light.

The Diner

The Diner is a 24/7 modern diner with old school appeal in Adams Morgan. As one of the most popular restaurants in the neighborhood, they enjoy serving old-fashioned milkshakes, huge grilled burgers, and all-day brunch. The Diner is a favorite for regulars and tourists alike. Large hand-painted murals are in the backdrop, as large leather oversized booths and rustic bar stools fill their welcoming space. They serve classic American comfort foods and drinks that embrace the diversity of the District’s residents and their tastes 24/7.
