J Jaffery
J Jaffery is a conceptual artist who grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, attended NYU film school, worked at PS 122 in NYC and Cleveland Public Theatre in Cleveland, and currently lives in Hyattsville, MD with his wife and collaborator, Amanda Shaffer. His conceptual practice involves film, video, artists multiples, collage, assemblage, photography, drawing, printmaking, and paint. He is vice-president of development for the National Immigration Law Center. He serves on the board of Mabou Mines in NYC, and is special advisor to Invisible Republic, a national nonprofit arts organization dedicated to strengthening arts education and visual literacy through book publications and exhibitions. Cinema is the language of democracy.

The poster images in this series are from the artist multiple “5 (or 6) short films,” which documents the early filmography of J Jaffery. It is a record of his creative process as a young artist in NYC and Cleveland in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s.
