About the Artwork

I am drawn to the ways we see and experience space. When I was six, I moved from Michigan to Shanghai and fell in love with skyscrapers and the urban form. Rooted in my training as a painter and my background in graphic design, I capture memories, events, and ideas through a spatial lens, marrying a rich vocabulary of built forms with cultural iconography drawn from years of practice as a visual designer.

The painted canvas serves as my foundation. From there, I introduce dimension through 3D printed forms, hand-built clay models, and other mixed media, bringing compositions alive through color and visceral texture. This added dimensionality deepens contrast, heightens friction, and brings to life the stories I tell with my work, from broad social narratives to personal memories of space.
