Brit Scott

Graffiti-folk artist Britnee Scott paints in rhythm with the streets—where color, memory, and movement collide. Her work pulses with bold lines and vibrant palettes, telling layered stories of race, politics, and everyday urban life. Through expressive figures and textured narratives, she honors the creative lineage of artists such as Elizabeth Catlett, Aminah Robinson, and Robert Colescott, while echoing the spirit of Faith Ringgold and Lois Mailou Jones from the era of the Harlem Renaissance.

Scott’s paintings feel like living folklore—vivid scenes where history speaks, ancestors linger, and contemporary voices rise. In her world, the canvas becomes a gathering place where culture, resilience, and imagination bloom in unapologetic color.

About the Artwork

My work blends graffiti aesthetics with folk narrative to create vibrant, symbolic portraits that explore identity, resilience, and the emotional landscapes of contemporary life. Through bold color, layered textures, and simplified figures, I tell stories rooted in community, culture, and personal reflection. Recurring symbols—such as flowers, doves, crowns, and celestial forms—serve as metaphors for growth, peace, awareness, and inner power.Influenced by urban environments and historical Black artistic traditions, my paintings merge street art energy with storytelling and spiritual symbolism. Each piece becomes a visual meditation on struggle, healing, and transformation, inviting viewers to reflect on the beauty and complexity of the human experience.
