Megan Snyder
Megan is a relief printmaker and art teacher with a background in history, library science, and anthropology. In recent years, her art focus has been on experimentation with printmaking and clothing construction. Trained as a museum and library worker, she draws inspiration from historical, outmoded, and ephemeral materials — especially of daily objects, such as metro tokens, and unique items like decorated flour sacks created as thank you gifts to an American diplomat. She is heavily influenced by lithographic and letterpress books, art nouveau, her experiences as a librarian, and life in Washington, D.C.
Her work typically explores line work, shape, and unexpected images. Collecting nature, mundane objects, and an imagination heavily influenced by books and history.
As an art instructor, her goal is not to teach “how to be creative” but to show students that they already are creative. Trained as a museum and library worker, she facilitates helpful information and leads her art students towards inspiration.

About the Artwork
Her work typically explores line work, shape, and unexpected images. Collecting nature, mundane objects, and an imagination heavily influenced by books and history. She says that she “tries to see through my subject to another world — often small in scale, surreal, or fantastical. Line work carries what I see in natural twists and curves.” She hopes her work leads to examinations of our world and place among nature and humanity as a whole.
